Reader
Department of Politics & International Studies, Open University
Prior to her position at the Open University, Raia has taught at Southampton University and Royal Holloway, University of London. Her research interests are in political theory, citizenship, sovereignty, the history of political thought, Hobbes, Spinoza, feminist political theory, and the body in politics. Politics is a subject centrally involved in debating the strengths and weaknesses of a case, giving reasons and providing evidence to back up a case, and finding ways to live with intractable differences and tensions between people, both in everyday life and in the public sphere. Raia is very keen to see students being encouraged to debate contemporary issues that are highly political.
