    Paul’s current role is as research director for the Structured Materials & Process Science department of Unilever, based at Port Sunlight. The focus of his role is to develop a team with industry leading expertise in the physical & chemical sciences and to ensure that this expertise delivers product innovation that delight consumers. Paul’s team works extensively with external partners (academic and industrial) - the Centre for Materials Discovery at the University of Liverpool is one very successful recent example of collaboration with Universities. He joined Unilever in March 2000 from the University of South Australia where he worked very closely with the R&D departments of companies such as Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Xstrata for six years. Paul’s scientific background is in the area of colloid and interfacial science and physical chemistry. He received his BSc and PhD from the University of Bristol.  He is also a Chartered Chemist and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
