Katy is a social scientist based at the University of Leeds. She is particularly interested in changing patterns of civic and political engagement and in the role of the public in local decision making and activist activities. Most recently, she has carried out research in Swansea, South Wales, looking at responses to proposals to build the world’s first tidal lagoon renewable energy development in the local area, and at the social impact that this development might have. She has published work on community relations and social networks, and is currently working on the topic of community resilience.
