LoizouKathy Loizou
Director
The Children's Media Conference
After many years working in media and the arts, Kathy is founder and Director of the premier conference for children’s media professionals in the UK. The CMC works with those who create content for children – producers, digital developers, broadcasters, publishers - to stimulate their creativity and help build their businesses, so that they in turn can produce the very best quality media for children. Over 900 delegates come to Sheffield annually for the event. Before that Kathy has been Director of Sheffield Doc/Fest, with a remit for establishing the festival’s reputation and organisational sustainability recently after its founding; she became Director of Showcomotion Young People’s Film Festival, where she advocated the rights of children to be able to experience high quality media content. Kathy is a Trustee of SHIFT, a charity which trains disadvantaged young people in film making and digital media. She is a Board member of ECFA (European Children’s Film Association) and a member of BAFTA (British Academy of Film & Television Arts).
