Jess was a keen debater at Sixth Form – reaching the semi-finals of the Oxford Union schools’ debate competition, and also at Cambridge University where she helped as a judge for the Union’s schools competition. She was a teacher for the English Speaking Union’s debate programme for inner city schools. Jess now works as a Political Adviser to Dame Tessa Jowell MP having previously worked as a policy researcher for the Social Market Foundation and a social media lead for David Miliband’s leadership campaign. She is the Chair of the Fabian Society, Britain’s oldest left-wing think tank, and Vice Chair of the Electoral Reform Society. She’s also a candidate in the marginal seat of Norwich North and went to Langley School for a short while in her teens.
