PEOPLE

  • Georgina Newcombe

    student

    Durham University

Georgina debated with Hutton Grammar at the 2015/16 and 2016/17 competitions, finishing second in the 2016 National Final. Since then, she has undertaken studies at Durham University, reading a combined honours degree and covering everything from Shakespeare to Kant to Middle East politics. Alongside this, Georgina is often seen sporting her Durham college’s football and netball kits and is enjoying being part of her college’s debating society (which is somewhat tamer than the Debating Matters competition). Georgina hopes to volunteer at a refugee camp in Greece over the summer and has a feeling this may inspire a career in political commentary. Georgina is also a keen artist, and recent works include an oil pastel drawing of Jeremy Corbyn.
