Felicity is a Cleft & Plastic Surgeon and runs the Cleft Lip and Palate Service for the East and North of Scotland. She looks after families from the time of an antenatal diagnosis into adulthood and carries out surgery, on babies, children and adults. She treats speech problems; this includes endoscopy and moving xrays while children are speaking, as well as surgery. She also treats other congenital facial conditions and airway problems. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests include wound healing and scarring, face development and mechanisms of clefting, comparative anatomy, surgically induced obstructive sleep apnoea, outcomes of cleft surgery and 3D facial imaging. Her research has been funded by the Wellcome Trust and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She contributes to the public understanding of science and engages widely in science communication.
