Debating Matters has grown and thrived over the past fifteen years due to the commitment and enthusiasm of the companies, organisations and projects with whom we have worked in partnership. There are many ways to get involved in Debating Matters, not just as an individual judging debates.

We work with venue partners who are interested in hosting Debating Matters events, filling their venue with argumentative teenagers getting to grips with many of the most controversial topics around today.

Judging partnerships are a great way for organisations to engage staff in an intellectually stimulating activity where they will encounter the thoughts and opinions of young adults. Not only a great CPD opportunity, judging partners are embedded in the local community through their engagement with the participating schools, networking with other judges, teachers and pupils.

Debating Matters is always looking for more sponsorship, particularly from organisations interested in sponsoring one of our new Regional Championships. Sponsorship doesn’t have to be giving us money however. Throughout the competition, we reward the pupils efforts with prizes for the winning team, the runners up and the best individuals at an event. Donating a prize; books, theatre and festival tickets, vouchers, tours, trips or even an internship can deliver brand recognition and possibilities for further engagement.

Is there a debate that you are particularly interested in starting? Would you like to hear the thoughts and opinions of some of the brightest 16-19 year olds in the country on a particular topic? Commissioning a Debating Matters Topic Guide could be for you.

Our Topic Guides are acclaimed in the national press and feature regularly in the Guardian’s ‘How to teach…’ series. Our Topic Guides are downloaded around 60,000 times a year off our own website and our website receives over 500,000 views a year.

Debating Matters topic guides are also hosted on the Guardian Education, Times Education Supplement and STEMNET websites, where they have attracted hundreds of thousands of downloads to date. Teachers often use Topic Guides as educational resources beyond the main competition as a way of enlivening aspects of and engaging students with the curriculum in the classroom.

If you are interested in one of the opportunities above or would like to propose a completely different type of partnership, Jacob Reynolds would like to hear from you.
